Dr Paige Banks
Postdoctoral ScientistPaige is a chemist interested in the discovery and characterisation of specialised metabolites from endophytic Streptomyces associated with wheat. These natural products often have potent antifungal activity and represent a valuable source of new crop protection agents.
In the Wilkinson group, Paige is working with Streptomyces strains isolated from wheat endophytes to extract, purify, and elucidate the structures of bioactive compounds. Paige enjoys collaborative work at the interface of chemistry and microbiology and is keen to contribute to the identification of novel molecules.
